COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

10 KM | 352 M ELEVATION

Take on this glorious 10 km route through the hills and valleys of the Coutlee Plateau. You'll work for the views, but that’s what makes them all the sweeter! Putting in some work early conquering a big chunk of elevation, you’ll reach the top and be treated with a beautiful view of the valley. A mixture of smooth and technical trails, this route is great for everyone. Continue your journey exploring flowery meadows and deadwood forests and everything in between. This route is a fun mix of singletrack and wide paths, guaranteed to be a blast for runners and riders alike!

26 KM | 891 M ELEVATION

The 26 km route will take you through a greater variety of landscapes than you thought possible. It's not for the faint of heart, with no shortage of elevation gain and some climbs right off the hop, but the rewards outweigh the work ten-fold. Marvel at the mountain views, the wide-open spaces filled with flowery fields, tree-lined singletrack, and forests of all types. If you're up for the challenge, the Coutlee Plateau is calling your name! *This event has a 6-hour cut-off* Course closes at 2:00 PM.

  • 10 KM Cut-Off: 4.5 hours

    26 KM Cut-Off: 6 hours

    The cut-off for each day is 2:00 PM for both the 10 km and the 26 km distances.

    Cut-off times are meant to keep everyone safe and ensure everyone returns, NOT to cut your race short! If you are close to making the cut-off time, we will use our discretion before pulling anyone from the race. We believe in you, take that shot and try out the longer race!

  • There is free parking at the event starting area in a grassy field. Parking areas will be marked, and you will be directed to the parking areas when you arrive. There is no shortage of parking, but the drive up Midday Valley Road can take awhile with a lot of traffic heading up so we suggest giving yourself extra time in the morning!

  • 10 km:

    Aid station ~6 KM into the race at the FloJo & CowTrail Intersection

    26 km:

    Aid Station #1: Located ~8 KM into the race at the Ziggy/CowTrail/Midday Valley Road Intersecting Area

    Mini Aid Station #2: Located ~16 KM into the race at the start/finish area (completion of lap 1)

    Aid Station #3: ~22 KM into the race at the FloJo & CowTrail Intersection

    Our aid stations will be stocked with all the nutritious and delicious items you’ll need to kick butt in your race!

    Here are some things you can expect at each of the aid stations:

    • Water, F2C Glycodurance

    • Coke, Ginger Ale

    • Bananas, Oranges, Apples, Watermelon

    • Pickles, Pretzels, Salty Chips

    • Gummies, Cookies, M&M’s

    ** If we are unable to get one of the above items, we will replace it with another similar item.

  • Race Package Pickup Location, Time & Details will be announced closer to the race.

    Race packets MUST be picked up by the registered racer, with NO exceptions as this is an insurance requirement. Please have your ID with you to show our team when you pick up your package.

  • We love the kids’ races, so bring your kids out for a super fun time!

    Kids will be running a 1 km out and back on Saturday, and biking a ~2 km loop on Sunday. Draw prizes to follow!

    Registration for the kids’ race will open closer to the event date.

    We’re encouraging donations for the kids’ race entries to cover the costs of bibs and medals, but it is not required. You’ll have the ability to donate upon registration or onsite.

    • A $5-$10 donation from every registration will go directly towards Nicola Valley Search and Rescue.

    • There is an additional fee upon checkout that goes to the MMBA. The fee is $5 for the 10 km racers and $10 for the 26 km racers. This fee goes toward trail building, trail prep and maintenance on the trails we are lucky to have access to for the race!

    • All prices listed above are subject to sales tax (5% GST in BC). All fees are payable in Canadian Dollars.

    • An online processing fee from RaceRoster will be applied to your registration for this event.

  • 60 days before race day (May 14) - 75% of entry fee can be deferred to another Heads or Trails event

    30 days before race day (June 13) - 50% of entry fee can be deferred to another Heads or Trails event

    21 days before race day (June 22) - No deferrals. No Refunds. No Exceptions. At this point, all of our race expenses have been incurred to put on a fantastic event! We cannot offer any exceptions beyond this point and we appreciate your understanding.

    *All deferrals are redeemable within one calendar year from the deferral date, and an entry may only be deferred once.

  • If the race is unable to proceed in person for any circumstances including, but not limited to, weather, acts of nature, COVID-19, or other circumstances, the event will move ahead virtually.

    Bibs are non-transferable to another racer under any circumstance.

    Also, please note that we do not provide transfers or refunds under any circumstances.

    If you purchased the Race Roster Registration Refund Protection during registration, follow the link to find out how to request your refund. This is a third-party refund process, meaning Heads or Trails is not involved and cannot help with any refund-related questions or issues.

  • MEDALS: All racers will receive a custom medal!

    DRAW PRIZES: We have tons of draw prizes to give away at the end of the race! Stick around after the event for your chance to win an awesome prize. **Racers MUST claim any draw prizes they won on-site. Prizes will not be held and will be redrawn if the winner has left.

    PODIUM: Racers who make the podium will be given a Custom Wooden Plaque during the Awards Ceremony.

    AWARDS CEREMONY: The Awards Ceremony will be held after the majority of the racers have finished their race. The exact time will be posted at a later date closer to the race.
